Oskar just decided to stay on his friend’s house without asking him. He took his laptop, power on the TV and started writing. 
Suddenly he heard a big noise on the attic. He quickly went to take a look and he could heard the laughter of a baby.…

Peering around old suitcases, Oskar spied a baby sitting in a box, playing with his old stuffed animals. She was dressed in a onesie with a pattern of watermelons. Her hair was the color of corn silk; her laugh rolled like a running stream. "Where did you come from?" Oskar asked.

“I come from a long line of charmers,” said the tiny baby with perfect pronunciation and diction. Then she went back to playing with the old stuffed tiger again.

I snatched that stuffed tiger from her hands. Baby or not, she had some explaining to do. “What do you mean, charmers?” I demanded. Waving the tiger around I asked, “Are you going to help me or not?” The baby looked at me with her blue eyes and said, “If you do me a favor first.”

"Favor?" I scoffed, thinking that this whole thing was simply absurd. "You're a baby. Look at you!" I gestured at her nappies. She folded her arms, raising her eyebrows, as if daring me to continue, to which, in response, I did. but what kind of baby could raise her eyebrows?

This cranky baby was one of a kind. The favor as it turns out involved a small pony and some sliced cheese. Seemed simple enough and I had no plans that afternoon.

All I had to do was use the cheese to lure Charles' prized pony to my apartment without him knowing.

The pony walked into my apartment, sniffing for my cheese & falling for my trap. I lunged at the pony so I could capture it. But the pony kicked me with its hoofs and smashed through the wall. It grabbed the cheese in its mouth & neighed. Charles appeared. "Better luck next time"

She felt a chill run up her spine. As it reached her neck, her hair felt like it stood on end. She had the feeling she was being watched. She turned her head, looking over her shoulder. Her eyes went wide and her chewing gum fell out of her mouth.

A thousand pairs of yellow eyes stared back at her, unblinking. They peered from gardens, drains, even darkened windows. Cold sweat misted her neck. They were toads, fat, warty, grey-bodied. They did not move, just stared. Then, in unison they all croaked the word, "Integrity."

She felt panic in her veins, was this real or was her pressure changing her vision? She had no answers, she just had a confusion living in her consciousness.

She couldn't stop thinking about Joey. What if he hurt himself again? he nearly cut himself buttering his toast this morning. She knelt down and stroked the carpet and pondered how she could help him get out of this situation. "Oh what am I thinking? he's all grown up now"

Now Joey was a full grown Kangaroo. Mama Kangaroo couldn’t be prouder. She really needed to stop worrying about her boy, but it had already become an old habit. She still remembered those days when she would change his diapers… how time flies.

Joe is now in his thirties and working at a tire factory. His days as a bouncing Joey forever gone. He is married to his high school love, Lurleen, and is looking forward to having his own joeys soon. Mama Kangaroo will become Nana Kangaroo. The circle of life will be complete.

"I'm late again!" Karen yelled from across the house as she chipped away at the melted crayons that had been left to cool in the waffle maker.

Managing a bed and breakfast with three rug rags running around proved more challenging than anticipated, Karen thought to herself. Finally, the pumpkin spiced waffles were ready. Karen rushed them to her guests. “Here you go Magda and Terrance,” she said to her demanding guests.

That’s right: Rug Rags. Three for one deal on the home shopping network. They are nice area rugs that automatically clean up spills. That’s how they’re supposed to work, at least.

There was, however, a spill that even the Rug Rags couldn't clean up. My sister doesn't like me to talk about it, but one day we were playing "gardener & bee" in the living room, & she decided to hook the garden hose up to the bathroom faucet. You can imagine what happened next.

It sprayed everywhere. I was soaked. I waanted to yell at her but i also was having fun so i decided to.....

grab my bathing suit and flamingo floaty. As I lounged my mind wandered. This should be commercialized! The next year I opened the town’s first combination water park nightclub with splash pad: Flight of the Flamingos—Trouble at the Soak of Midnight. I was taken care of forever.

There are days in a young boy's life when everything changes. For Huxley Doyle that day came on a Wednesday. That was the day he first encountered Tim Hortons buffalo crunch doughnut and questioned everything. "Why would a loving god allow such a thing?!?" he screamed at the sky.

“Mayonnaise was never meant to burble from a doughnut hole.” 

But Huxley Doyle’s complaints were answered only by a gentle breeze, and the sweet smell of a magnolia tree whose flowers had opened that morning. When Huxley’s mother announced the family would be moving to Toronto,

they all knew that mayonnaise was always going to be on the menu. One couldn't eat anything in Toronto without "a dollop of the white". Even orange slices & sour gummi worms came with mayo. Huxley wanted to fit in with his classmates, so he started every day with mayo in his tea.

The strangest part of life in Toronto was the stream of tourists from Minnesota desperate to buy mayo. It was such a strange thing to become illegal in the U.S., eh?

We'd sell it in 5 gallon buckets for $50 a pop. The US government wasn't too pleased with us though.

Suddenly the door bursts open knocking the nearest barrel over. Illicit turkey refuse spills everywhere. A cop grips my collar before I can escape. Next thing I know I’m standing trial for trafficking in bird waste, outed as a “fowl mouth.” I live the rest of my life in shame.
