  • the rumbling of hooves and creaking of wooden wheels approaching. Joe rose to his feet and stumbled to the edge of the trail just in time to wave down the wagon. The driver looked at Joe strangely and asked him a question in a language he’d never heard before.

  • Joe slowly nodded his head without understanding a word of what was spoken to him. He was scared but desperate. Without thinking twice he climbed aboard the wagon and set down his bulky satchel, filled to the brim with silver and gold.
