A low chuckle came from the hooded figure. “No one, human or divine, can ‘own’ a month. Time is the master of us all!” The creature laughed as it stood and rose to a height of nearly 3 meters.
The figure's robe was caught by a gust of wind & opened to reveal the giant was made entirely of clockworks. Gears clicked & chugged, coils looped & shuddered, and little minute & hour hands whirled about its body like gnats. I knew then that this was Dr. Hu's escaped simulacrum.
So massive did this clockwork beast pose, that its head towered beyond the misty sky. Nonetheless, over the mountaintop I unveiled my sword & swallowed my fears. Then came an awful grinding of gears. After I braced to shield my ears, I looked to meet the giant's soulless eye.
That eye, I see so many times in my nightmares. The time to close it forever has come, but how will I face this enormous creature? The grinding noise comes from the opening of a huge door of a cave at my back, maybe it will be the answer I need.
In barrels a huge form, more ogre than human, whirling with sparks of steel. It incapacitates the creature and its menacing eye. I bolt through the door, contemplating my savior. Will this new dream replace my nightmare? I hear the cries of battle get fainter as I escape.
