To do or not to do

My time was distracted by the screen when my English teacher was reading off the answers from our last final. I can only assume she was sharing this knowledge so we would know how we're doing, but to be honest, I didn't care.

the glow in my hands felt more real than her voice, and whatever waited behind the glass had already decided my grade wouldn’t matter much longer.

The next day, I found out I got an A+ thanks to my phone chats with that mysterious person. I wanted to thank them, so I tried to contact them again, but mysteriously was left with only one mysterious note. "Help me." My eyes widened and I decided I would try to find them & help.

Tracking them down was a relentless task. The only answer I had was that small contact, that note, that one guideline. What was I supposed to do with such a small hint? Eventually, I had to come to the conclusion that maybe they didn't need my help.

That realization was a moment of transcendence. I realized I could live a better life by doing one simple thing. I could mind my own business. It was the first step towards total personal fulfillment.
