The song filled the darkness. grandma used to play this. beyond this dream, she sat beside my hospital bed, playing it for me one last time as they prepared to finally let me go. I closed my eyes, laid my seat back and listened. And suddenly, the city was even darker.

My eyes shut. The city dark. My grandma’s song. I hold the ring that she left me after she passed. The same ring I got for her has come back to me now. I remember her asking me what I liked and realizing no one had asked before. This wasn’t the first gem she had given me.

It didn't have to be her. Anyone else. Cold wind came over me, I could slightly see the frosty breath in the air. Slumping down on the snow, I watched the city lights from the isolated cliff my house was on. I held it up to my face, a shiny sage gem was embedded into the center .
