Strands Still

With his feet pounding into the sand and water, his arms punched back and forth to as fast as they could. The resistance of water against his bone aching shins slowed him down. The swell of waves furiously grew at his back. He knew in his wrecked mind the beast was still near.

How does one fight seawater? The beast consisted entirely of water, salt, and thought. Did it understand language? Could words, concepts, or memes change its behavior? As he swam, he began to shout thought bombs, hoping one would wound.

Then he realized random gibberish thought bombs might not work. So he thought what could hurt seawater if not osmosis! So he started sending osmosis thought bombs at the seawater beast

Thankfully, the ship had already run aground, so he wasn't gonna drown. It hurt when he hit the ground, but he didn't fall far, and it was *still* better than falling into water, since he couldn't swim. As the beast continued to shriek, he ran as fast as his legs would carry him.
