The Gift

The Alien Cadet burst into the room with pouring sweat on his face. “Sir we found something that was attached to the strange object we found in space!” He said wiping his forehead with a rag. “Well then what is it?” The commander asked. The cadet held out a strange golden disc

It was a golden CD. The commander took the disc and put it on a CD player. “Man, its been a long time since I used one of these” he said smirking a bit. The Alien cadet felt the awkward atmosphere for a moment. Then the commander hit the play button and the sound was so weird

it shook the aliens to their cartilaginous skeletons. "What is that?" the commander demanded. The cadet looked at the playlist. "Aphex Twin: Tamphex (headphuq mix)." The commander shut the stereo off. "That'll never get played again." But the cadet liked the song & stole the CD.

On the lower decks of the starship the cadet set up a weekly listening party. “The humans call this ‘TECHNO’, he told his guests.” “Wicked!”, they all said as one. The party grew more popular every week, but it went unnoticed by command staff.

The party eventually grew so popular that even the command staff joined in. Everyone was discoing and dancing when suddenly a red alert started. Uh-oh. The pilots were too busy jamming at the party to drive the ship, and the ship was about to crash into a planet. What now? TBC...
