As he was slowly bleeding out on the floor of the massive cathedral he was shot in, he wondered how he got himself into this strange situation.

I guess, he thought as his vision started to dim, it started with that road trip I made with Alicia. The car was hers—a Tercel inherited from grandma. The stereo had a tape stuck in it—what was it? That Cocteau Twins album! She got so mad when I called them the "Cockatoo Twins."

The joke was on her, though. The Cockatoo Twins, a Cocteau Twins tribute band, had recorded the album. They were currently on tour with Dread Zepplin, AC/D She, and Rude Boy George.

They toured around the world, from Paris to England. Okay, I might have exaggerated a bit. They went to Paris in Texas, and England in Arkansas. They couldn’t afford a trip overseas. After all, they are a knockoff band. They played hits like My Way to Help and End The Snowman.

Eventually though, touring around the rural south began to take its toll. The band, as desperate as they were, longed for better gigs. “Just once I’d like to find something other than singing for tips at a Waffle House.”
