Heavy rain rattled the window. Thunder rattled the house. I breathed a heavy sigh, still unnerved by the nightmare.

What would my analyst say? I’m projecting my anxiety into my dreams. They’re reflecting something I’m afraid to confront while I’m awake.

I owe Jim a call.

Reaching for the phone on the table, I dialed the number with shaky hands. Sighing, I raised the phone to my ear.... "Hey, why are you calling this late? What, cat got your tongue? Not much of a talker, I see." Pausing a while after he finished, I replied. "Jim." Bad reply .....

I knew Jim hated that name. I should’ve said something else, a greeting at least. My hesitation to say more grew with each second. I’m holding my breath. I considered maybe this time could be different. I shouldn’t bring this up now but it’s been on my mind for so long
