Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

No doubt about it- that was her. Why would the Order care so much about such a plain woman? Why send him to check up on her?

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

“I’ve never been happier to be home.” The creature said. Jerry looked to the woman, who was glowing herself, floating. Then both the woman and creature disappeared in another flash into the night air.
