  • The daylight was running out and you could hear the hungry wolves moving closer. Ariel was so cold she asked Aaron to please build a fire.

  • "No...time..." said Aaron, panting with the effort of supporting her half-limp body. "Then leave me here Aaron," she whispered, "you know we can't outrun those things." She felt him stiffen. "Aaron, we'll both-" "No," he said simply. "But you're right. We can't...outrun them."

  • “Maybe we can out-think them!” Aaron gently placed her down, then emptied his pockets. He started constructing an elaborate Rube Goldberg puzzle surrounding them on the ground. His hope was that their pursuers would be distracted, fascinated, and maybe even charmed by the device.

  • He was right. The pursuers stopped to admire the Rube Goldberg Puzzle. "You made this?" they asked. "Yes indeed!" said Aaron. "My golly this is so fascinating! We'll stop pursuing you, we're gonna hire you both for jobs working as our top scientists instead!" Now it was all good.
