Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

It had been twenty-seven years... twenty-seven longs years since he had seen her, since she had left him, walked out of his life, leaving him scared and alone with his ailing father and abusive older brother...

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

"Cut! CUT! Why are those lights so god-damn bright?! This is a movie set not a sauna." The director sighed and walked back to his trailer. "This is supposed to be my comeback and all I have to work with are these imbeciles!"
