Train Wrecked!

I ran up as fast as I could. I could hear the loud booming voice ahead, bellowing "Giddy up, Giddy up! Last train out to your new life! Giddy up." I looked at my feet excitedly, clutched my single half-filled suitcase, and leapt up with all my strength into the

train car, just as it was beginning to move. I panted excitedly, hoisting my suitcase up into the seat beside me. I truly hoped that I would be starting a new life where I was going. After so much pain and chaos, I was well overdue for a brand new start somewhere far away from

this wretched place. I shook my head to clear my thoughts. It was all over anyway. I had escaped. I leaned back to watch the beautiful landscape scroll underneath the train, sighing blissfully until "Excuse me gov'nor, is this spot here empty?" I turned to see a scraggly boy tilt

his hat towards an open seat. I nod my head, but avoid eye contact. I had been warned about undesirables, and was not about to let one bamboozle me on my journey. The scraggly boy introduced himself, “Berty Booth lovely to make your acquaintance!” I responded with a loud grunt.
