The morning the witch decided to shed her skin like a lizard and become someone else, she prepared by

creating a fake obituary for herself so that no one would come looking for her. Next, she packed only her most important belongings to bring with her. It was hard to choose what would go up in flame with the house and what would come along. After all, a witch collects many things

over a long lifetime. She settled on a simple cloak and a bag of holding. She took her witchcraft omnibus and her grandmother’s spell book, as well as a travel potion kit. On the way out, she grabbed her best broom and whistled for her cat.

The cat bounded out of a basket near the hearth, paused to clean his whiskers, and hopped onto the broom. They slowly floated out the door which closed and latched behind them. “Adventure awaits, Halphas!” said the witch, dropping her potions and books into the bag of holding.

"You always say that," yawned the cat.

"And I always mean it!" said the witch. "Come now, don't be such a sour-puss!"
