After months of hiding, I'm back in the Hollow. I can sense that Quinn has been here. I can smell it. A figure appears out of nowhere, questioning me with a southern accent. A vampire. "What do you want?" He asked me after I told him I was looking for Quinn. "Help." I stared.
"Quinn ain't been 'round here since Groundhog Day," the vampire drawled. His accent was cute, but I kept my focus on the goal. I wasn't in need of an inter-monster crush. I'd just got out of a crazy relationship with a Gill Man named Bryce. "Where'd Quinn go after that?" I asked.
"Quinn went to the zoo to feed on the flesh of animals," said the vampire. "That's where we'll likely find him." Oookay. So Sam and I went to the zoo. It was starting to feel like a zoo date as we looked at the sleeping animals. Suddenly, a monstrous groundhog popped up. Quinn!
The groundhog was up in the air, waving around. Quinn was devouring it from the inside out. We backed away before Quinn could see us, but the growling and groaning made us turn around slowly to see some of the other animals that Quinn attacked coming towards us, we held hands and
started humming. Then we levitated slowly up off the ground. The animals surrounded us but could not reach us. As we rose higher, the wind pushed us towards a group of trees. I changed the pitch of my hum, which resulted in
an awkward tone as the Doppler effect set in. I laughed and looked back at Sam. Our eyes met and I saw again our awkward love creating humorous but beautiful moments. “How absolutely ridiculous!” Quinn interrupted. “You two idiots should each be tried for treason by your kings!”
"Well, for your information, I think that what we are doing is way better than what you're doing. You're killing people for enjoyment!" Tears filled my eyes, the thought of shifting into my wolf form, flooding my head.
"You think I take pleasure in taking a life?" I growled. "It's always been in self-defense. The humans are terrified of us. The vampires loathe us. The gill men are waiting for us all to destroy ourselves so they can reconquer the surface." Quinn bared his teeth, "And my mother?"
I slashed straight through Quinn's monstrous groundhog face. "Your mother hated me most of all!" I cried. "She trapped me in a time loop for 10 years! That's why I killed her, to make it stop!" Quinn gnashed his teeth and lunged at me. Sam grabbed his cane, and stabbed him.
Quinn squealed in excruciating pain. He didn't think Sam had it in him. Luna reached for the blade and stabbed Quinn repeatedly, while screaming out every name that died at his hand. Quinn saw the anger, the rage, and the love and it terrified him not knowing what was coming next
“What comes next, little birdie, is oblivion!” Luna whispered while driving the blade deep into Quinn’s heart. Then Sam lifted Quinn up and deposited him atop the jungle gym, facedown. Quinn couldn’t move, only helplessly watch as the blood poured out of the wound.
“We’re saved!” yelled the people of the zoo. “Three cheers for our heroes! Hip-hip hooray!” The animals danced with joy. “Hip-hip hooray!” Luna and Sam engaged in open mouth kissing in front of the crowd. “Hip-hip hooray!” “We shall meet again!” gasped Quinn as he teleported away
