Bentley wrapped the sleeves of his sweater in his hands as he spoke anxiously, "I can read minds." His chest rose and he huffed, "It’s…not as fun as it sounds. I don’t know how to control it.”

At that moment, the door opened. His mother asked why he wasn't doing his homework and added that this child couldn't get good grades, but his mouth didn't move... Then the doorbell rang; his closest friend had arrived. But he still couldn't comprehend what was happening. Then,

an odd noise wouldn’t quit pestering his hearing. When he asked his mother, she claimed to not have heard anything. When he let his friend inside, he also claimed to not have heard any noise. Later in the evening, the noise just seemed to get louder but yet, no one else heard it.

“You should stop listening to music so loud in your headphones.” “It keeps getting louder!” “Hush! You keep getting louder, and your Mom is gonna think it’s me and send me home!” “Pfft, she doesn’t care about stuff like that.”
