Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

It was her. After many years, Jerry had finally found her. Juliana Bowen. His daughter he gave up. Jerry slipped the photo back in his pocket.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

A humongous grotesque being fell from the sky. With its webbed feet it landed and crushed two neighboring cars. Jerry terrified out of his mine began to scream. Juliana shushed him, turning her back and approaching the creature. “He’s a friend, Papa.”
