Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

Soon he realised the woman was his ex wife, the one who left him for his brother. He was confused seeing her sad and alone yet felt slightly pleased with the sight since she caused him so much pain.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

Their eyes met which brought shivers to his spine, Jerry felt obligated to walk and greet her although hesitant. He slowly walked towards her, with an awkward grin. “Hey, it’s been a while hasn’t it?” He said in a forced happy tone. “How are the kids?”
