Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

He took a deep breath and then scooted his chair back, taking measured steps towards the woman and struggling to believe believe his search could end here.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

The creature coalesced into the shape of Jerry himself, and the woman gasped “Wait…which of you started all this??”
