Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

She looked so much like his wife with her long blonde hair and hazel eyes, even at his wife's old age in the photograph

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

The creature was in fact Jerry's wife back from the dead although Jerry and the woman did not know that yet, as she was disguised by the disgusting stench and crustyness that must have been picked up in the underworld.
