He had won the fight for all of humanity, but after his friend died and he lost an arm, his mind became an empty husk. This shell of a man had to be rolled around in a wheelchair while people prayed he would reawaken one day.

I only really knew what to do at the end of the play and I really had no idea where the time went that day

Honestly, what even is time? It constantly moves forward, and we feel its effects. But it isn’t tangible in and of itself. You can’t touch, see, hear, or taste time.

But you can smell it. And it's stench is unbearable. It is of decay and ash and sadness. It became clear to me, time must me stopped. I astral projected into the 5th dimension and grabbed the hands of the clock and snapped them off. The world saved, preserved in a single moment.
