Did Walter Jacobs die on March 11th, 1983, at 9PM? Yes. Did I kill him? No. But for some reason people think I did. My fingerprints were somehow found near the crime scene while I was bickering with my wife about who was going to pay the next heating and internet bills.

Of course my Tandy Housekeeper 2000 can verify I was at home. And the route tapes on my self-driving Lincoln Towncar show I went nowhere near the scene of the crime. Anyone with a Sears plasti-print could manufacture false fingerprints.

Detective Inspector Jones looked up through his dark sunglasses and exhaled. "Son, you have to understand, I have a job to do." The silence that ensued between the two men was lengthy. Two people, two hearts, two minds, one crime. False fingerprints or not, someone was going down

The younger man was unnerved by his reflection, and looked away from the Inspector’s gaze.

“Have you ever done this before?”

The inspector was silent for a long, long time. Then, he reached for his coat. 

“Try to get some sleep.” And he was gone.
