Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

He thought he had recognized her and he had been right. It was the woman his mother had always told him about.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

Once it had settled in what had just happened. Jerry and the woman stood up and in that same flash of light that brought the creature here they disappeared.
